On the evening of June 9, 2021, a trip to the grocery store turned fatal for 44-year-old Douglas Storm in a tragic encounter in South Tucson, Arizona. Storm, a father of four, was walking with his wife from their nearby apartment to the Food City on South 6th Avenue when he briefly turned back to retrieve a forgotten item. This momentary separation set the stage for a violent and senseless act that would end his life.
As Storm emerged from the west side of his apartment complex, he was
suddenly confronted by two unknown males. The men pushed Storm and brandished a weapon, escalating the situation with alarming speed. At the same time, a tan-colored sedan, driven by a woman with blonde hair, approached Storm's wife, who was waiting on West 40th Street. The vehicle struck her in the legs, though she was not seriously injured.
Seconds after the car struck his wife, the sound of two gunshots rang out. Storm was found on the ground with a gunshot wound. The two male assailants quickly jumped into the tan sedan, and the vehicle sped away from the scene. Emergency services were called, and South Tucson Police officers were the first to arrive, immediately rendering first aid to Storm before fire department personnel and paramedics took over. He was transported to a local hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. The South Tucson Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. In the immediate aftermath, authorities appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and capture of the two male suspects and the female driver. However, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the murder of Douglas Storm. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for his family and the Tucson community.
