In the early morning hours of February 3, 2019, a verbal dispute escalated into deadly violence in Phoenix, Arizona, claiming the life of 24-year-old Abdulai Sesay. The young man was one of two men found with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in the area of 3700 West Peoria Avenue when Phoenix Police officers responded to a call at approximately 2:17 a.m.

Emergency services from the Phoenix Fire Department arrived at the scene and transported both victims to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Despite their efforts, Abdulai Sesay succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Witnesses at the scene reported that a verbal argument had taken place just before the shooting, after which the individuals responsible fled in a vehicle.

The investigation into Sesay's death led Phoenix Police detectives to identify two suspects. On March 26, 2019, the first suspect, Chantez Davis, was located and taken into custody. He was subsequently booked into jail on charges of murder and aggravated assault for his role in the incident. At that time, detectives had also established probable cause for the arrest of a second suspect, William McCoy.

For nearly two years, McCoy remained at large. However, on January 19, 2021, the United States Marshall's Task Force, working in collaboration with the Phoenix Police Department, located and arrested him in the vicinity of 8300 North Avenue. McCoy was arrested for his involvement in the 2019 murder of Abdulai Sesay, bringing the manhunt to a close and marking a significant development in the case.
