On July 5, 2022, around 3:15 a.m., Phoenix police received a call regarding a shooting in the area of 4200 East McDowell Road. Upon arrival, officers found a man, later identified as Brandon Badger, a 54-year-old male, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Badger was immediately transported to a local hospital, but despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries. The incident occurred at a residence near 42nd Street and McDowell Road.
