On a Thursday evening in Phoenix, tragedy struck at a local barber shop, shattering the normal rhythm of the day. Inside the establishment, located in the area of 30th Avenue and McDowell Road, a dispute between two men who knew each other escalated with fatal consequences. Twenty-six-year-old Anthony Navarro, a male employee of the barber shop, was shot and killed.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on August 9, 2018. Phoenix police officers responded to a shooting call and upon arrival, discovered Navarro inside the shop. Despite the efforts of Phoenix firefighters who were also at the scene, he was pronounced dead. The reasons behind the altercation that led to the shooting remain unclear.
Following the incident, the suspect fled the location. However, the Phoenix Police Department's investigation quickly led them to a house near 43rd and Glendale avenues later that same night. There, they located and took the suspect into custody. Before being booked into the Maricopa County Jail, the suspect required medical attention for an issue unrelated to the shooting or his arrest. Authorities did not immediately release the name of the individual taken into custody.
