In the late afternoon of February 8, 2026, the life of 19-year-old Jabes Gurrola was tragically cut short in Phoenix, Arizona. The young man was discovered with at least one gunshot wound in the vicinity of 33rd Avenue and Grand Avenue. Phoenix Police officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area around 4:10 p.m. and found Gurrola, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Phoenix Police Department's Homicide Unit has taken charge of the case, which is being investigated as
a homicide. Details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the shooting have not been released to the public as the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not yet identified any suspects in connection with the fatal shooting, and no arrests have been made.
