In the early hours of a Sunday morning in west Phoenix, the sound of gunshots shattered the quiet of an apartment complex near 35th Avenue and Camelback Road. Responding to a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. on February 9, 2025, police discovered Ronald V. Armstrong Jr., a 50-year-old Black/African American male, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he did not survive his injuries.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene to take over the
investigation into Armstrong's death. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and authorities have not released any information about a possible motive. The assailant had fled the area before police arrived, and no description of a suspect has been made public. The Phoenix police are actively searching for the individual responsible for this violent act.
As the investigation continues, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide.
