In the early morning hours of June 8, 2022, a dispute in the Alhambra neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona, turned fatal, leaving 33-year-old Devion Oliver, a Black male, dead from a gunshot wound. The incident unfolded around 7:30 a.m. near 22nd Avenue and Heatherbrae Drive.
According to police reports, officers responded to the scene to find Oliver on the ground with a serious gunshot injury.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital by the fire department, but tragically, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
Investigators learned that Oliver had been involved in a confrontation just prior to the shooting. The individual he had the altercation with fled the scene on foot immediately after the shot was fired. A thorough search of the area was conducted by law enforcement, but the suspect managed to evade capture.
