In the early morning hours of June 20, 2019, a tragic series of events unfolded in Surprise, Arizona, leading to the death of 26-year-old Joseph Hutchinson. Hutchinson, along with Chasten Fairris, had reportedly conspired to rob another man, Ricardo De La Isla. The plan involved luring De La Isla to a specific location with the intention of taking his belongings.
However, the planned robbery took a violent and deadly turn.
Both Joseph Hutchinson and Ricardo De La Isla were killed during the incident. In the aftermath, Chasten Fairris, an El Mirage resident, was identified as a suspect. He was later apprehended by the Surprise Police Department and faced two counts of first-degree murder for his role in the deaths of both men.
The investigation revealed that Fairris was present at the scene where the bodies of Hutchinson and De La Isla were discovered. Evidence and witness statements indicated that Fairris and Hutchinson had been together before the fatal encounter and had orchestrated the plan to rob De La Isla. Following the incident, Fairris was found with a gunshot wound, further linking him to the violent events that transpired. He was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment and was subsequently booked into the Maricopa County jail.
