In the early morning hours of October 18, 2021, the life of 21-year-old Ocean Frederick Washington was tragically cut short in a burst of violence at Mission Manor Park in Tucson, Arizona. A large group had gathered at the park, located at 6100 S. 12th Avenue, when the scene turned chaotic. Witnesses later recounted a vehicle driving recklessly through the parking lot, accelerating around the crowd of people.
As the vehicle was leaving the area, an occupant inside fired multiple rounds
into the gathering. Ocean Frederick Washington was struck by the gunfire. Tucson police officers responded to reports of the shooting at approximately 3:15 a.m. and found Washington with gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate medical attention provided by Tucson Fire medics who arrived at the scene, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the park.
The investigation into the senseless killing quickly led Tucson police detectives to a suspect vehicle. They located the vehicle at a residence near West Ajo Way and South Valley Road. After executing a search warrant, authorities arrested 19-year-old Deandre Isaiah Antone. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and drive-by shooting and booked into the Pima County Jail.
Further investigation by detectives uncovered a second suspect involved in the death of Ocean Frederick Washington. A 14-year-old, Patrick Martinez, was identified and later apprehended at a home near South Midvale Park Road and West Headley Place. Evidence was collected at the location of his arrest. Martinez was also charged with first-degree murder and drive-by shooting and was taken to the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
