On September 17, 2022, Phoenix police responded to a call regarding a vehicle that had struck a dirt mound near 83rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. Upon arrival, officers found 19-year-old Joshua Fletcher slumped over inside the vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of the responders, Fletcher died from his injuries at the scene.
