In the early morning hours of October 30, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a West Phoenix neighborhood, leaving a young man dead and two others fighting for their lives. The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Raphael Rangel. The shooting occurred just before 1:45 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Hubbell Street.
When Phoenix police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim tableau. Rangel had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other victims, a 25-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were also found with critical, life-threatening injuries. First responders provided immediate medical aid before rushing them to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
