On December 14, 2022, Phoenix police conducted a welfare check at an apartment near 23rd Avenue and Rose Garden Lane. Inside, they discovered 17-year-old Gunther Saline deceased from a gunshot wound. His mother, 37-year-old Christina Marie Watson, was also found with a gunshot injury and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
