In a tragic event that unfolded in a north Phoenix apartment, 17-year-old Gunther Saline was found dead from a gunshot wound on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. The male teenager's life was cut short in what investigators have determined to be a murder-suicide.
Phoenix police officers were initially called to the residence in the vicinity of 23rd Avenue and Rose Garden Lane for a welfare check. Upon their arrival, they made the grim discovery of Gunther Saline with a fatal gunshot wound.
Also found at the scene with a gunshot wound was his mother, 37-year-old Christina Marie Watson.
Emergency services transported Watson to a local hospital in critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries. Following an investigation by homicide detectives, it was concluded that Watson shot her son before taking her own life.
The Arizona Department of Child Safety was notified of the incident and conducted a joint investigation with the Phoenix Police Department. Their findings concurred with the police report, stating that Christina Watson was the perpetrator in her son's death before committing suicide. The case did not involve any other suspects, and no arrests were made. Records indicated no prior history of abuse or neglect reports involving the family.
