In a tragic turn of events stemming from a domestic dispute, 62-year-old Carmen Buscemi, a male, was fatally shot on December 18, 2023, at his auto shop in Phoenix, Arizona. The incident was part of a horrifying murder-suicide that claimed the lives of four people, including the gunman.
The tragic day began to unfold around 11 a.m. at Buscemi's business, located near 27th Avenue and Deer Valley Road.
It was there that 53-year-old Bryan Fitz arrived and opened fire, shooting both his estranged wife, 49-year-old Sage Fitz, and Buscemi. Sage Fitz, who worked as a secretary at the auto shop, was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. Buscemi, a beloved master mechanic and business owner, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting at the auto shop, Bryan Fitz drove to his home near 23rd Avenue and Utopia Road. There, he shot and killed his 12-year-old son, Baynen Fitz, and the family dog before turning the gun on himself. When police later entered the home, they discovered the bodies of Bryan Fitz and his son.
Investigations by the Phoenix Police Department concluded that the motive for the horrific events was a marital dispute, as Sage Fitz had recently decided to seek a divorce from her husband. Family members described Bryan Fitz as a controlling individual whose behavior had reportedly worsened after a motorcycle accident left him disabled. As the perpetrator died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, there were no arrests to be made in this case, and authorities are not seeking any other suspects.
