In the crisp autumn air of a Sunday night in Phoenix, Arizona, the life of 31-year-old Abashe Agwuazim Mathis, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. On October 22, 2023, around 10:20 p.m., police were called to the area of 54th and High streets in the northeast part of the city following reports of a shooting.
