In the early morning hours of May 14, 2022, a verbal dispute in south Phoenix tragically escalated, claiming the life of 28-year-old Paul Tellez Jr. The incident occurred near 40th Street and Southern Avenue, where Phoenix police officers responded to a shooting call just before 3 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Tellez suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
Preliminary information released by investigators suggests that Tellez had been involved in a heated argument with another male when the confrontation turned violent, and the other individual shot him. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene and remains at large. The Phoenix Police Department has not yet publicly identified any suspects in the ongoing homicide investigation.
