In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Phoenix, Arizona, a life was tragically cut short. Arturo Rios, a 33-year-old male, was shot and killed on October 11, 2020. The incident took place at a residence on West Pierce Street, where an argument escalated into fatal violence.
Neighbors reported hearing a heated dispute followed by the sound of gunshots, prompting a call to the Phoenix police around 1:50 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two men with gunshot wounds. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Arturo Rios succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. A second victim, a 41-year-old man, was also injured in the shooting but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Following an investigation into the deadly encounter, Phoenix police identified a suspect. Juan Borbon-Hurtado, 52 years old at the time, was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was subsequently charged with murder and aggravated assault for his alleged involvement in the incident that left one man dead and another wounded.
