In the borough of Queens, a tragic story unfolded on the evening of December 27, 2021, forever altering the lives of those involved. That night, inside a laundromat in the Jackson Heights neighborhood, gunfire erupted, claiming the life of a young man and leaving another wounded. Gilbert Gayosso, a 25-year-old male, was fatally shot in the head.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. at the JH Super Laundry on 37th Avenue.
According to law enforcement sources, several unidentified individuals entered the establishment and opened fire on Gayosso and another man. When police from the 115th Precinct arrived at the scene following a 911 call about an assault, they discovered Gayosso with a fatal gunshot wound. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.
A second victim, a 21-year-old man, was also struck by the gunfire, sustaining a gunshot wound to his torso. He was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and was expected to recover.
