On December 15, 2023, just after midnight, Phoenix police officers responded to a local hospital where a woman, later identified as 34-year-old Ebony Phelps, had been dropped off suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite medical efforts, Ebony Phelps was pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical staff.
