On May 14, 2023, just after midnight, 17-year-old Desiree Rivas was fatally shot while leaving a graduation party in a neighborhood near 91st Avenue and Toronto Way (or Lower Buckeye Road) in Phoenix, Arizona. The incident occurred when several people at the party produced guns and began shooting at each other, and Desiree, who was not involved in the altercation, was caught in the crossfire and killed by gunfire.
