In the warm, late-night air of a Phoenix suburb, the celebratory sounds of a graduation party were tragically silenced by gunfire. Just after midnight on Sunday, May 14, 2023, 17-year-old Desiree Rivas was leaving a house party near 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road when she was struck by a fatal bullet.
