In a south Phoenix neighborhood, the life of 35-year-old Milton Forest Ayers III was cut short by an act of gun violence on the afternoon of Sunday, March 10, 2024. The fatal encounter occurred around 4:10 p.m. in the vicinity of 1700 W. Wayland Drive. Ayers was discovered lying on the ground, having sustained gunshot wounds.
Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene.
The Phoenix Fire Department provided immediate medical attention and transported Ayers to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Phoenix police detectives were called to the scene to initiate a homicide investigation. According to their preliminary findings, an unknown male suspect shot Ayers and then fled the area in a passenger vehicle. Witnesses at the scene were interviewed, and the area was thoroughly searched for evidence to piece together the events that led to the shooting.
As of late 2024, the suspect remains at large. Authorities have described the individual as a Hispanic male. In an effort to generate new leads, a reward of up to $2,500 has been offered for information that results in an arrest in connection with the murder of Milton Forest Ayers III. The investigation remains ongoing as his community and family await justice.
