When Tucson Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they discovered
Jesus Fierro with fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the trailhead. Another 20-year-old man, Freddie Hudson, was also found at the scene with critical injuries. Hudson was rushed to Banner University Medical Center, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators learned that multiple people were present at the trailhead when the shots were fired.
The shooting that claimed the lives of Fierro and Hudson marked the second deadly incident at the same trailhead in a two-week span. On October 12, 17-year-old Keven Yanez Acuña was also shot and killed at the same location and around the same early morning hour.
