In the winter of 2015, the life of a promising Tucson, Arizona, entrepreneur and rapper was tragically cut short. Jeremy Lynnail High, a 24-year-old male, was killed by gun violence on January 15, 2015. Known on stage as 'Jae High,' he was carving out a name for himself in the Arizona hip-hop scene and was recognized as an up-and-coming artist. Beyond his musical aspirations, he was a father and had established his own business, Get Bread or Be Broke along with a clothing line called Winner
Entertainment.
High was born on February 15, 1990, in Tucson and attended Santa Rita High School. Described as a very nice, sweet, and kind gentleman, he was also known for his comedic personality and his ability to make everyone around him smile. His efforts in the music world included creating his own music and performing at local nightclubs. He was a devoted son, brother, and father, leaving behind a young son, Kymani High, his mother, and numerous siblings.
The violence that ended Jeremy High's life occurred at an apartment complex on South Wilmont Road. In the weeks following the fatal shooting, the Tucson Police Department investigated the case, leading to the arrest of a suspect in early February 2015.
The individual taken into custody in connection with the murder was identified as Maize. He was subsequently booked into the Pima County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder. The arrest brought a measure of progress in the investigation into the death of a young man who was not only pursuing his dreams but was also a cherished member of his family and community.
