In Tucson, Arizona, a young Hispanic man named Jesus Romero, aged 20, lost his life in a violent encounter that unfolded from a planned robbery. The incident, which took place on April 7, 2023, ultimately led to the arrest of his alleged accomplice.
On that Friday morning, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Romero and a 21-year-old woman named Makenzy Jarman, allegedly arranged to meet a man at a park in the West University area with the intention of robbing him.
However, the situation escalated into a struggle, during which Romero was shot.
Following the shooting, Romero and Jarman fled the scene in a vehicle. Their attempt to escape was short-lived as they crashed in a parking lot near the intersection of North Stone Avenue and East University Boulevard. It was in this parking lot that Romero succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The man they had intended to rob had fled before the arrival of law enforcement.
Three days after the fatal incident, Tucson police arrested Makenzy Jarman. She was subsequently booked into the Pima County jail and faces a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jesus Romero. Her bond was set at $500,000 as the investigation into the shooting continued.
