In the spring of 2016, a young Black / African American man's life was cut short in a burst of violence that highlighted the ongoing struggles with gang activity in Omaha, Nebraska. Terrance Gunn, a 22-year-old remembered for his engaging personality and warm smile, was fatally shot on May 15, 2016. His death left his family and friends reeling from the sudden and tragic loss of a person they described as having a "warm heart."
