In the late evening of August 19, 2023, a tragedy unfolded in a northeast Omaha neighborhood that claimed the life of 33-year-old Lamont Slaughter, a Black male. Having just returned home with groceries for his family, Slaughter was gunned down in the doorway of his residence located in the 3000 block of Himebaugh Avenue.
