Robert Brannon, 33, a Black man, was shot and killed just after midnight on September 25, 2022, in an alley off 19th and O Streets in downtown Lincoln, near the Foxy Gentlemen s Club. Officers were dispatched around 12:06 a.m. and found him gravely wounded; lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Surveillance video gathered by investigators showed Brannon encountering 22-year-old Jahhrasta S. Fletcher in the alley.
The footage captured Fletcher producing a handgun and firing; when Brannon fell, the shooter stepped closer and fired again at close range. Investigators later described multiple wounds to Brannon s chest and head.
The day after the shooting, Lincoln police arrested Fletcher and booked him on a charge of first-degree murder. As detectives continued their work, they identified two additional men connected to the case. On October 7, officers arrested 20-year-old Jahhfarr Fletcher and 27-year-old Said Salahuddin. According to police, Jahhfarr was taken into custody on counts of being an accessory to a Class I felony, tampering with physical evidence, and tampering with a witness, while Salahuddin was arrested on a charge of accessory to a Class I felony.
Months later, the legal picture shifted. In June 2023, prosecutors moved to dismiss the first-degree murder charge against Jahhrasta Fletcher arising from Brannon s death. The dismissal followed an assessment that the state could not overcome an affirmative defense namely, self-defense under the burden required at that stage. The arrests of the two additional men remained part of the case history, but the central murder charge against the alleged gunman was withdrawn, leaving the outcome of any remaining accessory allegations to the court record beyond that point.
