On September 21, 2007, Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware, became the scene of a tragic shooting that resulted in the death of 17-year-old freshman Shalita Middleton. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. near the campus's Village Café, where Middleton and fellow freshman Nathaniel Pugh, also 17, were shot.
