On January 24, 2019, 17-year-old African American male Dametrius Benson was fatally shot in Wilmington, Delaware. At approximately 6:36 PM, officers from the New Castle County Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the Brandywine Apartments community on Jacqueline Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered the unresponsive body of Dametrius Benson, who had sustained a gunshot wound.
