On November 29, 2007, in Wilmington, Delaware, an altercation occurred involving Jermaine Vessels, 33-year-old Omar Kinard, and others. During this confrontation, Vessels shot Kinard, who succumbed to his injuries the following morning on November 30, 2007. Subsequently, on November 30, 2007, Vessels was apprehended after a foot chase, during which he discarded a handgun that was later recovered by the police. However, this firearm was not the one used in Kinard's shooting.
