On a summer night in 2006, the life of Donminico Coco Melton, a 35-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short in Wilmington, Delaware. In the early hours of July 11th, police were called to the 500 block of North Monroe Street where a shooting had occurred. Officers arrived to find Melton with critical gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries.
