DeShannon Reid was a 38-year-old Black male from Wilmington, Delaware. On the night of April 14, 2015, he sat on the front porch of his home in the unit block of West 27th Street with his mother when Damian Thomas approached and tried to draw him into conversation. After a brief exchange, Thomas walked off toward Market Street, retrieved a gun from a nearby apartment, returned, and shot Reid on the porch around 9:44 p.m. Reid was struck in the lower back and buttocks, rushed to Christiana Hospit ...
