On January 1, 2014, 28-year-old Allen Jamie Whitt Jr. was found fatally shot inside his car in Wilmington, Delaware, becoming the city’s first homicide victim of that year. Wilmington police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1400 block of West 3rd Street, where Whitt’s vehicle was discovered after drifting to the 1200 block. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and arm. Whitt, a certified welder and musician from Maryland, left behind a young son.
