Black / African American male, age 28. On the morning of August 28, 2023, at about 6:32 a.m., Wilmington police were called to the area of East 24th and North Pine Streets, along the edge of Brown-Burton Winchester Park. Officers found 28-year-old Zaahir Thorton, of Philadelphia, fatally shot. Early reports offered few details beyond the location and time, and detectives asked the public for information as they began piecing together the final hours before the gunfire.
