On the morning of August 28, 2023, at about 6:32 a.m., Wilmington police were called to the area of East 24th and North Pine Streets, along the edge of Brown-Burton Winchester Park. Officers found 28-year-old Zaahir Thorton, of Philadelphia, fatally shot.
