Zaahir Thorton, a 28-year-old Black / African American male, was found dead in Wilmington, Delaware, on the morning of August 28, 2023, after police were called to the area of East 24th and North Pine Streets near Brown-Burton Winchester Park. The call came in around 6:32 a.m. for reports of gunfire, and when officers arrived, they found Thorton's body in the park area. Early reporting identified him as being from Philadelphia and said he had been shot.
