Mark Outman, a 64-year-old male and a distinguished Denver architect, was killed on December 28, 2020, during a violent home invasion at his residence in the city's Montclair neighborhood. The incident unfolded when three individuals, posing as utility workers, gained entry to his home. During the burglary, Mr. Outman was fatally shot. A family member, identified as his daughter, was also shot and sustained critical injuries but was able to call 911 to report the assault.
Upon their
arrival at the home on Monaco Street, Denver police officers witnessed three people fleeing the scene. Shortly after, officers heard more gunfire and encountered one of the suspects, 47-year-old Larry Hamm, attempting to carjack a vehicle. In the ensuing confrontation, police shot and killed Larry Hamm.
The other two suspects, 44-year-old Tameka Dudley and 38-year-old Joshua Hamm, were subsequently arrested. Both faced charges of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, and first-degree burglary. In a later plea agreement, Dudley and Joshua Hamm pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for their roles in Mark Outman's death. Tameka Dudley was sentenced to 48 years in the Department of Corrections for the murder, a sentence to run concurrently with a 12-year sentence for a separate burglary charge. Joshua Hamm was scheduled to be sentenced in January 2022.
