In the Clayton neighborhood of Denver, on the night of October 21, 2018, a sense of normalcy was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 23-year-old Tyree Ra'Sheed McDaniel, a Black male. McDaniel was inside a residence on the 2900 block of East 35th Avenue when the fatal incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Without warning, a gunman opened fire from outside the home, shooting through a window and striking McDaniel.
The suddenness of the attack left no opportunity for defense. Emergency services were called to the scene, and McDaniel was quickly transported to a nearby hospital in an effort to save his life. Tragically, his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced deceased.
The Denver Police Department promptly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. Despite their inquiries in the Clayton neighborhood and beyond, a suspect or suspects were not immediately identified, leaving the case unsolved. In an effort to generate leads and bring a measure of justice to McDaniel's family, Metro Denver Crime Stoppers offered a financial reward for any information that would lead to an arrest. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Tyree McDaniel, and the investigation remains open.
