On the evening of February 28, 1978, Thomas Gutierrez, 32, and his wife were returning to their home in Denver's Baker neighborhood after attending a funeral. After parking their car, as they walked toward their residence, unknown assailant(s) fired shots at the couple, striking both. They were immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.
