On the evening of February 28, 1978, Thomas Gutierrez and his wife were returning to their home in the Baker neighborhood of Denver after attending a funeral. Shortly after parking their car and beginning to walk towards their residence, the couple was tragically met with gunfire. Unknown assailants fired shots in their direction, striking both Mr. Gutierrez and his wife.
