In the winter of 2007, the life of 38-year-old Otis Brown Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short in Denver, Colorado. On the evening of November 30th, Brown had been spending time with a coworker at a local bar. He decided to leave early, around 8:30 p.m., mentioning that he had to work the next morning. This would be the last time he was seen alive by those who knew him.
The following day, December 1, 2007, a grim discovery was made in the 3900 block of Jackson Street.
Denver Police officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle and, upon their arrival, found Brown inside his car. He had been fatally shot. The promising life of the U.S. Navy veteran and forklift operator for Shamrock Foods had been violently extinguished.
Despite the passage of time, the case of Otis Brown Jr.'s murder remains an open wound for his family and the Denver community. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School's Class of 1987 and was engaged to be married. He was a father to a son and two stepchildren, and a cherished member of his family, which included his mother, a sister, and two brothers.
The investigation into his death has been ongoing since that cold December day. However, no arrests have ever been made in connection with his killing, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
