On April 3, 2016, Scott Breitinger, a 45-year-old Aurora resident, was shot and killed in an alley near 3219 West Nevada Place in Denver. He had been waiting to meet a friend for a motorcycle ride when an assailant emerged from a metal trash can and shot him multiple times. Despite efforts to save him, Breitinger was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the incident. The attack appeared to be a targeted shooting, as nothing was stolen from him.
