Nyzere Seth, a 17-year-old Black / African American male, was one of two people killed in a late-night quadruple shooting in Wilmington, Delaware, on July 28, 2020. The violence unfolded at about 10:55 p.m. in the 1100 block of Beech Street, near Van Buren Street, when gunfire broke out and left four people struck by bullets. Police arrived to find a chaotic scene with multiple victims, including Seth and 23-year-old Alexus Cumberbatch, both of whom died from their injuries.
The shooting
cut through the neighborhood just before 11 p.m., drawing a large police response to Beech Street as investigators began sorting through what had happened. In addition to Seth and Cumberbatch, two other victims, an 18-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, were also wounded and taken for medical treatment. Those two surviving victims were reported to be in stable condition, while the deaths of Seth and Cumberbatch turned the incident into a double homicide.
Authorities identified Nyzere Seth and Alexus Cumberbatch as the two fatal victims the following day as Wilmington police continued investigating the shooting.
