Jayda Reed, a 19-year-old Black woman, was killed on the night of July 26, 2021, when Wilmington police were called around 8:23 p.m. to a home on the 1100 block of West 2nd Street. Officers found Reed and 30-year-old McKenzie Horn dead from gunshot wounds inside, and a 12-year-old girl who had also been shot but survived and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
