In the early evening of December 9, 2023, a violent encounter in a Wilmington, Delaware parking lot claimed the life of Malik I. Benson, a 22-year-old Black / African American male. The incident began at approximately 7:17 p.m. in the parking lot of the Eagle Tobacco Shop located at 3505 Miller Road. Benson was in his vehicle when a dark-colored SUV entered the lot and parked. An occupant of the SUV then fired several shots at Benson's vehicle before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
