In the late afternoon of a Sunday in Henrico, Virginia, tragedy struck at the intersection of Newbridge Road and Hawkes Lane. On August 11, 2024, at approximately 5:07 p.m., police and fire units were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Christopher Devonte Bolden suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was swiftly transported to a local hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away later that evening. The death of the Henrico man was quickly classified as a homicide, prompting an intensive investigation by the Henrico County Police Division.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities were able to identify a suspect in the area shortly after the incident. Utilizing multiple police units and resources, officers conducted a thorough search and located Jamel Rashad Yates-Damera, a 22-year-old from Henrico. Yates-Damera was taken into custody and subsequently arrested in connection with the shooting. The investigation did not end there, as detectives continued to follow leads. Their efforts led to the identification of a second individual believed to be involved. On March 15, 2024, Travis Lamar Paige, Jr., a 22-year-old from Richmond, was arrested. He faces charges of second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Following his arrest, Paige was held at the Henrico County Jail West. While arrests have been made, the police have encouraged anyone with further information regarding the homicide to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
