Zykier A. “Zyebhowww” Flowers, a 16-year-old Black male from Wilmington, Delaware, was killed on the night of May 11, 2024, after gunfire erupted outside the Concord Mall at 4737 Concord Pike in Wilmington. He had been at a carnival set up in the mall parking lot when a fight broke out near the carnival entrance. What began as a confrontation among several people quickly turned deadly when an unknown suspect pulled out a gun and fired several rounds into the crowd.

Police said troopers were called to the Concord Mall parking lot at about 10:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found two teenagers suffering from gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures. Both teens were taken to an area hospital. Zykier was pronounced dead there, while the other victim, a 17-year-old boy, was treated for serious injuries and later released.
Investigators said Zykier was not described as being the shooter, and the public information released by police framed him as a victim struck during the gunfire that followed the fight. The suspect fled after the shooting, and police did not release a name, description, or confirmed motive. The shooting led to the shutdown of the carnival, and reports described the event organizers as closing the carnival after the violence.
