He was the father of five children: Tamia Rivers, Shyanne Rivers-Boyd, Emoni Rivers-Boyd, Bry'Niah Rivers, and Sha'nai Rivers-Walker. He was also the son of Andrea Brooks and Theodore Nelson, and had siblings Andrea Rivers, Nasha Brooks, Peri'Gnon Brooks, and Tamekea Nelson.
