On May 19, 2008, in Gray, Maine, 40-year-old Jennifer Sue Lessard was fatally shot by her estranged boyfriend, 48-year-old Albert Merrill, at his residence. Following the shooting, Merrill took his own life, resulting in a murder-suicide. This tragic incident was classified as a domestic homicide by the Maine State Police.
