On a summer day in Lebanon, Maine, the life of 58-year-old Rita Demers came to a tragic end. On July 15, 1997, Rita, a female resident of the small town, was killed in an act of domestic violence that shocked the community. Her death was one of 19 homicides that year in the state of Maine.
