On December 15, 2018, in Richmond, Maine, 37-year-old Niomi Mello was found deceased in her home, the victim of a domestic violence homicide. Authorities determined that her longtime boyfriend, 46-year-old Kirk Alexander Jr., fatally shot Mello in the head with a 9mm handgun before turning the weapon on himself in an apparent murder-suicide.
