On August 1, 2011, 41-year-old Allen Patric "Macdaddy" MacLean was fatally shot near the intersection of Congress Street and Massachusetts Avenue in Portland, Maine. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot around 4:20 a.m., followed by MacLean running across Congress Street, exclaiming, "I'm dying, I'm dying!" He collapsed in front of a gas station and was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be a single gunshot wound to the chest.
