On June 24, 1997, a confrontation in Portland, Maine, culminated in the deaths of three men: Kevin Pinette, 22; Dana Matthews, 24; and Nicholas Patenaude, 23. The incident occurred outside the home of Sabato Raia, a local bar owner. Earlier that evening, Raia had engaged in a heated argument with the three men at the bar where he worked as a bartender.
