On April 26, 2022, 43-year-old Derald "Darry" Coffin was fatally shot during a robbery on Woodford Street in Portland, Maine. Coffin, originally from West Bath, was in a vehicle with his friend, Annabelle Hartnett, when they were approached by a group of men intent on robbing them. The confrontation escalated, resulting in Coffin being shot twice in the abdomen; he later died at Maine Medical Center. Hartnett also sustained gunshot injuries but survived.
